Consignment sales are truly a brilliant innovation for parents looking to save money while still providing quality clothing and toys for their children. Before my eldest son was born, I had no idea that such sales existed - where one could find nearly everything needed for a child at fantastic prices. From clothing to toys to baby gear, these sales are a treasure trove, offering significant savings on gently used items. The thrill of discovering great bargains is only part of the appeal; the other part is the satisfaction of decluttering your home by consigning outgrown clothes and toys.
The key to making the most out of consignment sales lies in a few strategic practices. Firstly, organization is paramount. Keeping track of what your children have outgrown and what they will need for the upcoming season helps streamline both the buying and selling process. Before each sale, meticulously sort through your children's wardrobes and toy collections.
- Reasonable Pricing is Key - pricing your items reasonably is crucial. Research what similar items are selling for and aim to price yours competitively to ensure they attract buyers.I often find myself choosing items and then changing my mind when I see the price is higher than what I would pay during a sale at a store.
- Bundling Items - Making bundles can significantly enhance the sales process! Clean and neatly package the items you plan to consign; presentation can significantly impact how quickly and for how much your items sell. Try grouping them into outfits then attach them together on a hanger. If creating outfits seems daunting, consider bundling a few shirts or pants together instead.
- Pin Carefully - When assembling items in a bundle, be mindful of where you place your pins. Ensure the pants do not tug on the shirt and cause stretching by anchoring the pin at the bottom of the hanger. If the shirt tends to slide off the hanger, secure it using the pin that held the tag.
- Get Those Kicks Lookin' Fresh - It might require some effort, but make sure to clean your shoes before storing them! Shoes, especially in larger sizes, are in demand. If you have quality shoes that just need a bit of cleaning, give them a good scrub!
- Prepare Before Going Online - Arrange and label your items beforehand to streamline the process. This will save you from searching for specific items or matching pieces. Pick a quiet time, perhaps during nap or after the kids bedtime, put on your favorite show, and relish a peaceful moment while entering the information.
