Things to Borrow From our Local Libraries, Other Than Books

National Library Week is the first week of April!

It's National Library Week April 3 to 9, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to highlight some of the more unique items that our local libraries available to check out ... other than books!

At Louisburg Library you can find:

  • 3D printing and laser/engraving services in the Maker Lab
  • Free passes for Museum at Prairiefire in Overland Park
  • A "library of things" where patrons can check out board games, Cricut macine, outdoor games like disc golf and ladderball, board games and an outdoor inflatable movie screen.

At Eudora Community Library you can find:

  • Every spring, they do a seed giveaway until supplies run out (for 2025 they are already gone)
  • Free passes for Museum at Prairiefire in Overland Park
  • Some book club kits available for checkout
  • Patrons have access to digital magazines, books, audios, music, and movies
  • A "library of things" where patrons can check out popcorn maker, sno-cone machine, cotton candy machine, toddler size bounce house, and inflatable water slide (there are some rules such as paying a deposit and being having a Eudora library card in good standing for at least six months).

At Osawatomie Public Library you can find:

  • A 3D printer, button maker, heat press, sewing machine and more in their MakerSpace

At Pomona Public Library you can find:

  • Our library of things includes: jumper cables, car battery changers and more!

The library, of course, also has plenty more to discover, from books to DVDs to regular events like weekly story times and reading challenges.
