Wanna Beat the Summer Heat? Here's Your Guide to Local Story Time for All Ages!

Many readers will be on the hunt for some indoor fun to beat the heat during these upcoming summer months. Here is a comprehensive list from each of our local libraries' storytimes. Click the link to find specific dates/times and more information for each event!

Paola Free Library

  • 10:30am on Thursdays - Our weekly story time is geared toward our toddler and preschool aged friends. Each week we read books, sing songs, dance, and have an activity. Story Time lasts about 45 minutes.

Osawatomie Public Library

  • 9:30am & 1:30pm Fridays - Toddler Time Story Time (ages 0-5) join for stories, music and fun!
  • 10am & 2pm First Fridays - PreK Kitchen Lab
  • 10am & 2pm Third Fridays - PreK Art Lab
  • Additional programming over the summer!

Gardner Library

  • 10-10:30am Mondays - Help your child discover the joys of reading and develop early literacy skills, with songs, stories and finger plays for Family Story Time (ages 0-6)!
  • Additional programming over the summer!

Louisburg Library - Story times, mini golf, move nights, and more programs over the summer!

Lawrence Public Library - Story stroll, pool side story times, craft nights and more!

Pomona Community Library - every Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the children’s room of the Library, Our Librarian will be presenting a read-aloud story followed by a fun craft and snack that go along with the theme of the story.

LaCygne Library - offering book clubs, virtual story times, teen cooking classes, STEAM, and more. 

Ottawa Library - Story times, robotics, book club, and additional summer programs!


Most libraries offer story times, but definitely check them out for more offerings! If you haven't visited your local library yet, make sure to check it out as this is a great opportunity to get your children involved in books.
